Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship

We provide entrepreneurship education to students in under served communities. Primarily in Dallas and Irving ISD

About

NFTE provides entrepreneurship education to students in low-income and under resourced communities. We are an in-school elective generally taught in the Principles of Business Finance and Marketing Classes by teachers who have gone through the NFTE teacher training.

We currently serve students in the Dallas and Irving Independent School Districts. Students spend a year learning business concepts such as Opportunity Recognition, Marketing and Sales, Market Research and Business Financials. Bringing real-world examples and problems to life through experiential activities and the creation of a business plan. Students select a business idea where they are required to write, present and defend a business plan to a panel of judges at the end of school year. Students compete for seed capital and an opportunity to compete nationally at our annual business plan competition held each year in New York City during the month of October.

NFTE uses volunteers from the community to help enrich and enhance our program through guest speakers, business plan coaches and mentors, as well as judges. NFTE is a 501(c)3 which provides professional development for teachers, resources and materials for students, along with the opportunity to compete at a local and national level. Students who participate in the NFTE program are eligible each year to apply for scholarships, internships, as well as the opportunity to represent NFTE North Texas at the annual showcase in NYC and the EY Entrepreneur of the Year awards. NFTE continually strives to provide a well-rounded experience for both our students and teachers.
