About

At WiNGS we help women find a path to a better life. It’s not just our PURPOSE. It’s our PROMISE.

Our Women’s Enterprise Center helps women entrepreneurs successfully design, launch, and establish small businesses. WiNGS Members have access to: training and technical assistance, mentorship, a peer community, capital, and hands-on support.

Our delivery methods and content differ from other small business development (SBD) programs. We go beyond business plan development by adding accelerator services and mentorship, in-depth topic workshops and alumni networking events.

We also address the barriers such as personal financial capabilities, essential business skills like networking and public speaking.

WiNGS incorporates practices of self-efficacy into the model to ensure women gain the confidence needed to succeed as a business owner.

Our program starts with a WiNGS WEC Information session: This 90 minute orientation explains components, commitment, and eligibility requirements. Potential members complete an Entrepreneurial Readiness Application which includes a time and skill analysis to help determine her ability and desire to begin the program. Call 214-584-2305 or email [email protected] to register for a session.

By application, women are accepted into our core business plan training program. Members complete group coursework and individual homework to ultimately create their business plan. WiNGS uses curriculum developed by Women’s Economic Ventures (WEV). The course explores feasibility, financing, marketing and managing a small business. We also offer program participants WiNGS’ RiSE personal finance program to address balancing members’ personal finances with business finances.

We provide capital directly through our asset building Business Launch Accounts.  Business Launch Accounts provide eligible participants a 1:4 savings match, up to $4,000. If someone saves $1,000, we match $4,000. They are offered to women upon program enrollment*. We also connect members to partner microlenders for more funding options. *eligibility requirements apply

Skill Development Workshops: 90 minute courses help members grow their businesses. Courses are interactive and held with cohort peers. Topics include marketing, HR, and social media.

Business Mentorship: Mentors work 1:1 with members to help draft business plans, address barriers and help establish solutions through goal setting. When possible, mentors are paired with WiNGS Members in similar industries.

Networking/Sales Opportunities: focus on engaging with the business community to practice skills and build contacts. Access to marketing events creates exposure and opportunities for sales.

Consulting Groups: 2 hour groups that provide learning opportunities using an established curriculum with activities and handouts. Topics focus on soft skills such as: networking, public speaking, and time management.
