The Green Job Skills pilot program will empower local contractors looking to increase their skill-set and to fulfill high-demand green jobs in the City of Dallas. During this pilot program, we will be offering free, flexible, self-paced online courses that focus on specific weatherization job tasks taught by experienced professionals. The media and resident responses have been overwhelmingly positive (see below)! This program is designed to complement the new Whole Home Dallas online resource that contains a consolidated list of weatherization, energy efficiency, and renewable energy financial incentive options. The two programs will help Dallas homes be more climate resilient and increase the number of skilled specialists to perform upgrades.
The SBC is partnering with the Office of Office of Environmental Quality & Sustainability to help get the word out on these weatherization classes being offered to anyone who has familiarity in building, handyman work or any experience at all with home improvement. These are self-paced courses being offered to ANYONE who:
- Lives in Dallas
- Has internet access
- Is able to work
