B.R.A.I.N. Boosters at Your Library

Although the B.R.A.I.N. is headquartered in the Downtown Central Public Library, other branch locations have B.R.A.I.N. Boosters on their staff as well. These individuals are available to help you, the entrepreneur, get connected to the Business Resources And Information Network in the convenience of your closest branch location.

The Dallas Public Library System has 28 branch locations throughout the city that can make checking out small business resources convenient for you on your way to work, the grocery store, soccer practice, or lunch. Go online to the library website, http://dallaslibrary2.org/ , and search the Catalog for instructional and inspirational books. Be sure to check the days and hours of operation for your preferred branch before you head over to your branch to pick up your materials.

Not sure exactly where to find inspiration? Dallas Businessman, investor and owner of the Dallas Mavericks, Mark Cuban, lists his must-reads for aspiring entrepreneurs. Rework, The Innovator’s Dilemma, Call Me Ted, The Fountainhead, Cold Calling Techniques, The Only Investment Guide You’ll Ever Need are all available within the Dallas Library system for checkout, with some available as both an ebook and hard copy. And Andrew Carnegie’s article “The Gospel of Wealth” can be found in 50 Prosperity Classics available through the Dallas Public Library in e-audio book format or online ebook through ebrary.

All staff, including B.R.A.I.N. Boosters can assist with accessing in person and online resources and databases. The Dallas Library ebooks, audiobooks, newspapers and magazines are available online in the Downloadable Media options if you prefer the convenience of computers and e-readers to picking up a book or magazine. And there are eLearning resources available to further enrich both your professional and personal life. Access through your library membership of Lynda.com is an example of an online education platform that offers courses by industry leaders on business, software, technology and creative skills to further your career and personal goals. Finished courses and certifications can even be uploaded to your Linkedin Resume.  It is necessary to have an active DPL card in order to access Lynda by entering your library card information even after logging onto the DPL website.
