Don’t Miss Small Business Training Dollars!

SourceLinkDallas learned this week that local businesses are leaving tens of thousands of training dollars on the table! If your small business has employee training needs, you may benefit from the Skills for Small Business program. It is funded by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) with training taking place through Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD). The District provides direct training to employees of businesses in Dallas County

The grant that provides these funds has been around for some time, but local businesses have not been taking advantage of it. The program covers a tremendous variety of training opportunities. DCCCD has a 48 page list of courses available at its seven district campuses ranging from accounting to welding and many more in between. Where ever you are in Dallas County, there is a campus convenient to your employees.

The program is available to:

  1. Private businesses who,
  2. Employ from one to 99 people company-wide
  3. Be financially stable, and
  4. Be liable to pay unemployment insurance contributions to TWC and be in compliance with the reporting and payment requirements

The program funds training for full-time employees and will pay up to $1,450 for each new employee (three or fewer months on the job) and up to $725 for existing employees per 12-month period.
